Maureen Agnes Rutter -

It is with great sadness that the Rutter and Vranches family announce the passing of Maureen Agnes Rutter on February 27, 2016. 



Maureen Agnes Rutter, age 58, of Pickering, Ontario, passed away on Saturday (February 27, 2016) at Lakeridge Health Centre in Oshawa after a courageous battle with cancer. She was the beloved wife of Peter Vranches of Pickering, Ontario. 
Maureen was born in St. Andrews, Scotland on August 29, 1957 and grew up in Buckhaven, Kingdom of Fife, Scotland. She was the daughter of the late Ronald and Helen Rutter. 

Maureen pursued an entrepreneurial career, before she retired due to her illness. During her time, she had aided numerous people in launching their medical careers. Besides her husband, Peter, Maureen leaves her brother and sister-in-law, Chris and Anna Vranches. Maureen also leaves behind her beloved niece and nephew, Cathy Pollack and Louis Vranches, as well as her in-law parents and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and close friends. Maureen was preceded in death by her parents, Ronald and Helen Rutter. 

Maureen was an incredible person and loved playing golf all year around, be it on the golf course or at the golf dome. She also loved to travel and play at international golf courses, such as the Old Course in St. Andrews, Kingsbarns, Leven Links and Elie in Scotland. She also enjoyed simply spending time with her friends and family and her Yorkshire Terrier, Buckie. 

At Maureen’s request, she will be cremated and funeral services will be held at York Cemetery at Monday March 7, 2016, with visitation at 4:00 pm, service at 5:00 pm and a reception after the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
