Peter Cant - Obituary


Peter Cant
1934 – 2019

Suddenly, on Saturday October 26th, 2019, with his loving wife, Sally, at his side at the Scarborough Centenary Hospital in his 86th year. Beloved husband of Sally for over 62 years, predeceased by their only son, David Stephen Cant (2008).  Peter was born one of ten children and grew up in Doncaster, Yorkshire, UK.  He married Sally in March 1957 and immigrated to Canada in June 1957.  Peter worked in the Long Distance Engineering Department, Montreal, of Bell Canada and Bell Telephone Engineering Training School, Belleville for 34 years.  Subsequently Peter worked at Timothy Eaton Memorial Church before retiring.  Peter was an avid golfer, tennis player and curler, and enjoyed his membership at Whitevale Golf Club and Tam Heather Curling and Tennis Club.  Cremation has taken place.  A celebration of Peter’s life is being planned and will take place at a later date.  Memorial donations will be graciously received by the David Stephen Cant Graduate Scholarship in Stem Cell Research, University of Toronto.  Contact the Office of Advancement, Faculty of Medicine 416-946-3111. David Myrvold Junior Golf Fund

We are pleased to announce the establishment of the David Myrvold Junior Golf Fund as a tribute to all his efforts and support of junior golf at Whitevale.

Donations can be made to Diane in the administrative office or by cheque. Please make the cheques out in David's honour to "Whitevale Golf Club" and identify the "David Myrvold Junior Golf Fund" in the note section.

David's family would also like to thank those who attended his Celebration of Life on Sunday.

Mixed Event with String

Today was a great day for the inaugural Mixed Event with String.  Eleven teams participated to be crowned champions.  Congratulations to the team of Bob Adams, Anne Trimble, Ken Oley & Deborah Nesbitt shooting a winning net score of 48.  The team of Glen Mackie, Deborah Hamade, Brian Knowles & Linda Briggs finished second with a net score of 49.2 and in third place the team of Mike Harris, Anne Hill, Jeffrey Wood & Anna Lindsay with a net score of 50.1

Weekday Men's Closing Field Day

It was a cool day for the Weekday Men's Closing Field day, but we had a great turn out.  Congratulations to Terry Calder, Lorne Rogers, John Fleming & John Elia.  They shot a net score of 59.4 just to nudge off Kevin Hughes, Art Pingree, Peter Brandt & Wayne Wellman by point 4 strokes. Tied for third place goes to teams of Mike Harris, Travis Boughner, Ray Northey, Garnett Graham & Dennis Matton, Tom Kelly, Ian Bain & Dave Whiting both shooting a net score of 61.2.
